THE STORY OF THE VAGABOND

During the revolution that would bring on the Meiji Era, a Hitokiri (assassin) by the name of Himura Kenshin was notorious among the people and especially feared by the Shogunate.  As Hitokiri Bathousai, he killed many of the corrupt government officials until the reformists, Ishinshishi, were able to gain the advantage against the Edo Bakufu.  Once this occurred, Kenshin dropped into anonymity and wandered the country for ten years.  He had taken a vow to never kill again and so, his life began as a rurouni (wanderer).  And it was in the eleventh year of the Meiji era that Kenshin met Kamiya Kaoru.  With Kaoru and other friends such as Yahiko, Sanosuke, and Megumi, Kenshin is able to find a little happiness in living a simple life at the Kamiya Dojo.  Ironically, it is this infamous swordsman who does the cooking and the laundry around this place. ^_^  But Kenshin’s past continues to haunt him and his peaceful life is always interrupted by enemies from the Edo Bakufu or government officials.  All approach him for different reasons; some for revenge or battle and some for his help.  When the nation’s safety is at risk again, Kenshin decides to leave Tokyo and he begins his journey to Kyoto towards the battle of his life...
